UNDER 18’S Bundeena Maianbar 2 vs Grays Point 5
Ever had one of those weeks when you should have stayed at home? Well this was probably one of those weeks especially if your name is MAX. We had 4 new players come into our team this week which is fantastic. We would like to say a huge welcome to Matthew Maughan, Cameron Maughan, Lewis Scott and Max Vollmer.
Well Max was on the field for an extremely short time when he was involved in a very hard tackle and had to be taken to hospital with a suspected broken foot. With Thomas Bawden away, this left us with 10 players. The game was very feisty indeed with a couple of yellow cards given to both teams. One of our players to receive his first ever yellow card was a very quiet and shy Andrew Parkhill. He was accused of running into the goalie from Grays Point who definitely as one of the parents pointed out should have been playing for Italy (no offence to any Italians). It must be Andrews hot Irish blood that is in him. Speaking of hot Irish blood, Jeremy Curtain was involved in his first ever altercation of the field as well which may give you some idea of how this game was going. If that doesn’t convince you maybe the words of their No 89 player may. He called out to all his players right in front of the umpire, “Hey guys they only have 10 players so if we take a few of them out, they can’t sub anyone back on”.
The next player on our team to be injured was Max Van Der Vleet. Max is always a bit of a target on the field due to the fact that he is such a great player. With Max hobbling around and no one to replace him, a swap was made with Cameron Maughan in goals. After a very loooong shirt change, Max moved into goals and continued the great work that Cameron had been doing. This Max also was going to Hospital after the game for x-rays.
My only suggestion to our players. Play your own game. Don’t get sucked into playing like these other teams if they are going to play like this. Watch your language on and off the field and have fun!!!!!!!! |
