7Y1 REPORT FOR LOFTUS YARRAWARRA GALA DAY

With a great result on Saturday against St.Pat’s it was time for the 7Y1 to test themselves at the Loftus Yarrawarra Gala day on Sunday 25 May 2008.

We were included in the afternoon session which saw us playing three games of 25 minutes, with no subs on the day the kids had a lot of work in front of them.
Not to be daunted and continuing on the form from the day before they started with arguably their best performance of the season to defeat Sylvania. Their confidence has grown over the last few weeks and now we are starting to see the kids show some great team work. Its encouraging to see some of the things we have been working on at training like passing and calling for the ball starting to make its way into the games.

They continued on their winning ways in game 2 against Miranda and were beaten in a very close and competitive last game against Gymea who were all solid boys.

Below is a short summary on how each of the kids went in no particular order:

Kaitlin Hodges: Tackled and ran hard, never stoped working has the making of a future midfield general scored a couple of goals including a great long range effort from the side line.

Lucy McCarthy: Showed her silky skills all day, great passing and dribbling scored a number of goals including possibly the goal of the year so far from inside our own half.

Sean Kennedy: Tackled and worked hard all day, took a couple of knocks for the team. Provided some great corners and passes that set up goals.

Emily Schnieder: Scored about a thousand goals!!!! Great dribbling and finishing, reads the game like a pro.

Lucy Hook: The rock at the back. Great defender, covers well, tackles all day and passes out from the back like Beckenbauer.

A big thanks to the kids for a great effort on the field and their families for the support during the afternoon. The Team represented Bundeena- Maianbar with great distinction showing great sportsmanship in every game. Congratulations to the Loftus- Yarrawarra club for putting on a great event I would certainly recommend that the club consider entering a team again next year.

David Kennedy and Tammy Hodges, coach and manager.
