BUNDEENA 7Y2 vs ENGADINE CRUSADERS 12/7/08

With an 8am kick off in Engadine, who could blame the Bundeena folk for being a tad late? Kicking off with just three players, we held our ground valiantly until reinforcements arrived.

The teams were fairly evenly matched, with play happening at both ends of the field. Engadine scored a goal mid-way through the first half, bringing the half-time score to 1-0.

Whether it was the rousing cries of coaches Paul C and Paul M for “the Second-half Champions” (it was suggested that in future we just play two second halves) or whether it was the sheer skill and determination of these terrific players, Bundeena staged a heroic comeback after the second half whistle blew that would warrant a ticker tape parade. Louis staged a magnificent piece of athleticism culminating in the first goal, and followed it up with a second. Aimee’s persistent attack rewarded added a third goal to the tally. Dane made several unlucky attempts at goal. Matthew and Kye kept up the pressure on the Crusaders to the end, and Lily played the match of the season with her confident kicks and concentration in defending the ball. (Josephine was away this week.)

The final score - 3-1 to Bundeena. Well done girls and boys, you earned this win!
