Match report W15 B – Match 1 versus Grays Point 30 March 2008
We met up on a sunny morning in Grays Point. After some confusion about who was going to wear which shirt, the girls set out for their first match of the season. Before kick off we had the first injury, Josephine sprained her left ankle and had to sit on the side bench and watch the game, not a good start for her, unfortunately. Hope you are getting better soon, Jos.
The game started a bit later than scheduled time, kick off at 10.30am. We have two new players this year, we have also lost some that played last year and at the moment we are 14 players. The two new players Sally and Sandy did really well in their first soccer match, I have to say. Although, we lost with a high number as 0 – 6, I think that our girls did really well on the field on their first match. Ellen was in goal in the first half and did some good saves; let the ball in behind the goal line only once. Jade was kicking towards the opponent’s goal, but Grays Points goal keeper didn’t let the ball in.
In the second half Sarah was in goal. There was a lot of pressure from our Bundeena girls at the beginning, then they were playing mostly in Grays Point half and the other team managed to score five more goals…..that’s how it goes…… Our girls need to learn to pass the ball to each other more and not just kick it just somewhere. But that’s easy for me to say, who is just sitting on the side line watching and not playing myself.
Anyway, I am sure we are going to have a fun and good soccer season and do our best, we are in B grade, too, which is new for us.
Thank you Justin for taking on the task coaching the girls and we also hope to see more of Steve, at the matches and maybe with Justin at the training. |
