WSB MATCH REPORT - 30/3/08 - 5 - 1  - Loss

The start of a new season and the first home game at Bundo – what more could we ask for – well – maybe a win – but that was not to be.  Looking a little rusty and a little out of puff in the hot weather, the 12 players who took the field did their very best in the first game of the season again Menai.

Welcome to the team, Sian McDonagh, Chantelle Attwood and Lauren Rennie, our three new recruits who really stole the show with their great play on Sunday.  Sian, playing nearly every position on the field, passed brilliantly and stayed ice cool under pressure; Channy running tirelessly up front and Lauren showing guts and determination to win the ball every time it came to her.  Strong games also from Laura James Elise Rennie and Kate Brimble.  Elle Howe received the “bashed about by the opposition” award and was carted off twice due to “rough play” from the other team.  

Good things to come out of the game was there were flashes of brilliance from the team at certain stages and glimpses of good passing.  I know that we will regroup and come back stronger than ever next game.  Add Renee, Jen & Tahls (all missing this week) into the mix and the team will be strengthened next week.

Well done girls for your first run – it was hard – but we can only improve.
